What does the course cover and how long does it take?

The online training takes around 3–4 hours and can be completed in one sitting from any device. It covers hygiene rules and contamination control, personal hygiene and PPE requirements, and your safe working responsibilities, finishing with a final assessment.

What happens if I fail a test?

A free resit is included for the exam If you fail.

How and when do I get my card?

This is a same-day completion course. Once you complete the modules and pass the assessment, your details will be registered with EUSR. Your EUSR virtual card will then be issued through the Vircarda app, and you will receive instructions by SMS. A physical plastic smart card can also be requested if required.

Do I need any prior experience or qualifications to take it?

No prior experience is required. You'll just need a basic understanding of English and internet access on a mobile, tablet, or desktop. The content is simple and easy to follow, making it suitable for all workers in water-related roles.

Is the Blue Card recognised across the UK water industry, and does it expire?

Yes — it's recognised across the UK water industry and registered on the EUSR register so employers can verify it. Blue Cards are valid for a set period and need renewing via a refresher course, so check your expiry date to stay compliant.
